I trained as a painter but an interest in textile art developed out of my desire to take the canvas off the stretcher bars and create tactile work. This led me to learn about dyeing fabric as a means of getting colour directly into the cloth.
I develop the cloth using a mixture of gestural painting marks and more precise printed marks that reflect the ideas I am working on.

Then, I construct a larger cloth using the various pieces that I have made. I sew the fabric pieces together either in a traditional three-layered quilt or as a single-layered dual-sided cloth.
